Amherst musician Jose Gonzalez
will have one of his musical compositions performed by the US Navy Band
in Washington DC as part of the Oct. 17, 2009 Celebration Concert
honoring the Navy's 234th birthday at DAR Constitution Hall in
Washington DC. The
Caribbean flavored composition selected for performance by the US Navy
Band is “Bomba Te Traigo Yo”. It has been featured on Putumayo World
Music compilations and can be found on the best selling CD Jose
Gonzalez and Banda Criolla - “Fiesta en San Juan”.
Recognized as "The World’s Finest," the Navy band features some of the
nation’s top musicians and performs a variety of music from classical
orchestral works, popular favorites, traditional marches and patriotic
fare. The special
concert will be broadcast on closed-circuit TV to Navy troops worldwide
